Redwoods Treewalk

Since 2018 Creature Post has been working with Redwoods Tree Walk on an on going project to add layers of extended reality and magic to the night time experience this tourist destination offers. We have created interactive projections to help entertain visitors in their sometimes long wait times over busy periods such as Xmas and school holidays.

Many of the projections are perspective illusions that bring an added element of depth and dimension when viewed from the right angle.  They include a native Weta, a Kiwi, a pod of floating whales and a cute whack-a-worm animation for kids to play with, cycle through regularly at the entrance queuing area.

In 2022 we have added to the offering with 2 AR experiences - Visitors can walk under swimming AR whales, or be immersed in a cloud of native butterflies by scanning a QR code to activate the experience on their devices.

We’ve also added a new butterfly projection mapping over one of David Trubridge’s oversized lanterns which guests can walk through.

We’re excited to see what we can do to further enhance and add to these experiences in 2023.
