Mana Moana - Digital Ocean - Te Huhui a Matariki

Mana Moana Digital Ocean brings together more than 20 leading Māori and Pacifica artists from across Aotearoa for an online collection of multimedia and video art – all housed over an immersive waterscape rendered in 3D. Art and technology weave together in eight new collaborative works ranging from video art, to VR /360 film and 3D digital sculpture. We worked with artist Regan Balzer to bring her physical paintings to life, to tell the story of Te Huhui a Matariki.

The gathering place of Matariki, orTe Huihui a Matariki, brings us together to witness the auspicious stars that signal the Māori New Year. Through the darkness of night, embark on a voyage of painted forms that appear and come to life to the sounds of nature and creative expression.
